The last 12 months have been some of the rainyest Saturdays of all time! Ask any wedding photographer on the East Coast, we’ve had the worst luck with weddings this year, but I’ve also had the best couples to deal with it!!! Although Meggie & Lee were disappointed that is rained basically all day, they had an amazing time & such great spirits! If rain is good luck on a wedding day, then they will have TONS of it! Tucked away in Winston-Salem is one of the prettiest venues I have ever seen. It is straight out of a fairytale, and reminded me of a little Biltmore! Thankfully Graylyn gave us so many options for rainy day pictures.
If you didn’t know, I love babies, so walking into the suite in the morning full of babies & mama’s to-be was oh so sweet! THREE of Meggie’s bridesmaids were pregnant, and several others had just had babies too! Cuteness was everywhere. There almost isn’t a bad spot to take pictures in Graylyn, but we utilized the sunroom for pictures, as it was filled with light!!! Meggie did a first look with both her Dad and her bridesmaids, and it was oh so sweet! After sneaking in a full bridal party shot without Meggie & Lee seeing each other (yes we made it happen!!!) We headed to the church where Meggie’s Grandpa was the pastor for 32 years, and it was a gorgeous church on top of a hill. Dare I say Lee shed a tear as Meggie walked down the aisle, and from the balcony I caught him wiping away his tears. Their ceremony was full of love & laughter, and they were all smiles walking back down the aisle. We headed back to Graylyn for their “just married” portraits. When I first talked with Meggie, she knew that it was going get dark fast on her wedding day, and lucky her shooting in the dark doesn’t scare me! We had a nice break in the rain after the ceremony, so we were able to quickly hit a couple of spots outside, before heading inside for family pictures before dinner. I loved that Meggie & Lee had their own private dinner, just the two of them before the party began.
When I say party, I mean these people could party! The ATL Groove Factory had everyone signing & dancing all night long. Meggie’s mom surprised them with a live painter, who painted their first dance, and it was amazing watching the painting come alive throughout the night. We took a short break in the cool air for some more nighttime portraits out in the courtyard, which feature lanterns that were present at both of Meggie’s
I hope you two are having a great mini moon in Blowing Rock right now!
Enjoy some of my favorites of their beautiful wedding day!
