Gerri Anna & Dalton
Durham Engagement Session
Museum of Life & Science + Downtown Durham
Being hired by another photographer to photograph THEIR wedding is a true honor! I am so excited for Gerri Anna & Dalton’s wedding day this upcoming May. They are going to be the very first wedding at a new venue in Oxford, NC, and I am stoked to be the first one to photograph a real wedding there.
We started just after the sunrise at the beautiful Museum of Life & Science just outside of Downtown Durham. They charge a small fee, but you are able to go outside of opening hours, so you have the place to yourself. Since I have children, I am actually a member there, so I know the museum WAY well, so it was easy for us to location hop around the museum.
I knew from previous experience that the Butterfly House is absolutely stunning, and it needed to be done last because of lighting. It also requires a 10-minute break, to wait for my lens to get used to the humidity, so if you’re wanting to do a session there, just make sure you build in this time (unless it is equally as humid & hot outside as it is inside the butterfly house) Perfect timing for an outfit change! The butterfly house has its own bathroom, so while I sat in the butterfly house will my lens are fogged up, they had time to change & refresh.
After the museum of life and science, we headed to Downtown Durham for the complete opposite background. Brick walls & garage roofs were perfect neutrals for Gerri Anna’s teal dress!
Countdown to May is on!
