Over the last few years, I’ve been dreaming of traveling again. As I started thinking of a dream vacation, I kept thinking of the French coast, with its endless hillsides and miles of fresh lavender fields. I can just picture my mini-me’s running around and picking flowers!
Lucky enough, we have a piece of French-inspired hills right here in Chapel Hill! Reminiscent of the South of France, Lavender Oaks Farm is one of the most incredible venues in Chapel Hill. Nestled in the countryside forests outside the city, you feel like you have jumped on a plane to France and are ready for the weekend away enjoying wine and fresh flowers. (Sounds amazing, right?!)

For the 2022 Issue of Heart Of NC Weddings, I teamed up with an incredible group of vendors to create a lavender-inspired shoot filled with vintage-inspired designs, breathtaking flowers, and chic fashion.
One of my favorite parts of the shoot was all the bees. I am slightly terrified of bees, but since we were in full bloom lavender season, the bees were humming everywhere. It gave a soft hum as we were styling the day and didn’t care about us being there at all. All they wanted was the delicious lavender!
Our real couple, Travis and Mikayla, were so fun to shoot as they held hands and wandered along in the gardens. One of the perks of my job is getting to photograph some incredible couples that are oh-so in love.
Travis Wore a cornflower blue suit, a modern take on the traditional navy. We wanted a gown that would fit our garden-inspired setting, and the Petunia gown was absolutely perfect! The gown by Tara La Tour was covered in floral embroidery, with billowing sleeves and an open back. Isn’t it just stunning?!
Lavender Details + Vintage Decor
The mother-daughter duo of Bower Bird Flowers created organic arrangements, which accented the farm’s natural beauty. Shades of blush, mauve, buttercup yellow, and lavender all tied together for a color palette that was so dreamy. The handpicked centerpieces with fresh wildflowers, roses, and daisies paired so well with the Antoinette Bleu China.
Artist and stationery designer, Ashley Triggiano, created the most incredible paper and stationery that tied in all the gorgeous elements of the day. The wax seals on the dinner plates were hand stamped with lavender petals, and the invitations had a handpainted watercolor of the venue.
Even the food was vibrant! Beau Catering, a dear vendor we lost last year and dearly miss, created delicious dishes inspired by French cuisine with a southern twist. The grilled peach crostini and steamed mussels were to die for!
It was such an amazing afternoon, walking through the lavender fields, hearing the hum of bees, and working with such a talented team of vendors. If this shoot is inspiring your wedding, reach out today! I would love to capture your love story and create some beautiful memories.
