Fall on film is one of the most gorgeous things, in my opinion. I photographed T&J’s wedding almost 5 years ago at The Bradford in North Carolina, and this Fall they moved up to T’s hometown of Richmond, VA. So when they asked if I would drive up to do their maternity photos, I was so excited. We got some of the prettiest fall colors, even though the sun decided to disappear at the beginning of the session, the trees were really showing off.
This isn’t their first baby though, big sister to be joined in on the fun. If you’re not a parent to a two year old then you don’t know how fun is it to get them to cooperate with ANYTHING. M did a great job with lots of fun games and snack breaks. Capturing her how she is though is just part of the fun of photographing families. I always say the goal is to get one good everyone smiling and looking at the camera shot, but getting their little (or shall I say quite big) personalities, their natural laughs, lots of hugs & kisses is the true beauty of family photos.
Though I shot this session of digital and film like all my full sessions, I included what this session would’ve looked like if I just shot it on film, and it’s just pure magic. Usually my favorite photos are film, and on social media I usually share mostly film, so I thought why not just start sharing the film. Film photography just has something about that makes it so perfect.
