Drew & Nathan
Walnut Hill | Raleigh, North Carolina
October 21, 2022
Drew and Nathan celebrated their special day at Walnut Hill in Raleigh, North Carolina. The two met on bumble, followed by a first date at Raleigh Beer Garden. While celebrating their anniversary as boyfriend and girlfriend, Nathan popped the question. Drew was so surprised but thrilled to say yes. Later that night, close friends and Drew’s parents came over for champagne.
Heavy on the green and the details
Drew and Nathan’s ultimate favorite part of planning their wedding was picking out details to make their wedding day personal to them. They achieved their goal. As a result, their wedding details were my favorite part of capturing their day. Drew and Nathan wanted their wedding to embrace nature, so they chose Walnut Hill because of the water and flowers already there. They also loved the outdoor barn frame reception venue, which I admit, so did I. When creating inspiration for their day, they chose to keep things not too formal but rustic and traditional. Eucalyptus plants and emerald bridesmaids’ dresses created a gorgeous color palette of white, blush pink, and green, which is also their favorite color. But the show’s real stars were the red vintage truck and velvet loveseat. Both very unique details that made their wedding decor perfect for them!
Wedding day at Walnut Hill
Drew and Nathan got ready inside the suites at Walnut Hill. I captured elegant flat lays of beautiful pieces and invitations before heading out for the first look. Their wedding was on a clear sunny day, perfect for pictures. Once it was time for the ceremony, I was eager to photograph the altar, which stood before a beautiful lake. The cutest little flower girl and two ring bearers walked down the aisle, and Drew and Nathan exchanged vows sealing with a kiss. Following the ceremony, the newlyweds took beautiful photos featuring yellow and golden leaves in the background. Guest enjoyed cocktail hour, and finally, it was time for Drew and Nathan’s reception entrance. They had their first dance, and it wasn’t long before everyone was out of their seats.
A perfect mix of new and vintage
I enjoyed capturing the love in the room while also admiring the intentional decor details. Pampas grass, eucalyptus, and blush roses were centerpieces on each table, a beautiful white cake sat on a vintage piano, and a velvet love seat was in the middle of the reception. It was the perfect mix of new and vintage. The wedding night was coming to an end, and Drew and Nathan got their final private dance before heading out into a sparkler exit of loving friends and family. They sat on the red vintage Chevy truck that said, ‘Just Married,’ and it was the perfect ending to a fun night.
