Jamie and Wil’s wedding day at Westglow Resort & Spa featured a clean color palette and jaw-dropping views of the Blue Ridge Mountains! A few years ago, the couple met on a night out in Durham through a mutual friend. Jamie bought Wil a tequila shot, and the rest was history!

Outdoor Wedding at Westglow Resort & Spa

After Wil pulled off a surprise proposal, the couple started researching outdoor venues. The 360-degree mountain views at Westglow solidified it as the venue of their dreams! What’s more, the couple loved the charming onsite lodgings as they were the perfect place for Jamie and her wedding party to spend the night prior to the big day. Although it rained on and off on their wedding day, the couple still had the outdoor ceremony they envisioned. And you know what they say about a rainy wedding day!

The outdoors also inspired the color palette the couple chose of bright white with calming shades of green and blue. They loved the look of white flowers for making an event feel light and airy, so Fuschia Moss Floral Design made them a gorgeous installation of baby’s breath for their ceremony! The beautiful natural surroundings and their florals together made the celebration feel grounded, yet refined.

Private Vows and a Champagne Tower

I love that so many of my couples break traditions to create a wedding day that is stress-free and undeniably THEM. Jamie and Wil were no different! Rather than reading their handwritten vows in front of a crowd, they shared them with each other during their first look. The moment was intimate and authentic because there was no pressure to “perform!” In addition, they did a champagne toast instead of a cake cutting at their reception. At AJP, my philosophy is the more unique the better, so I love to capture every moment that makes each wedding one-of-a-kind!

Documenting Jamie and Wil’s love story from their engagement photos to their wedding day was so much fun! In between, I also had the opportunity to shoot Jamie’s bridal session, which featured an appearance from their sweet doggie, Boone. You can check out a few of those images below!
